Finding our Architect
Despite all the ways we’ve discussed how to find an architect we didn’t expect to find our architect on TV. We stumbled across a great program on The Discovery Network called “Building Off the Grid.” An architect and his brother were building a cabin on their parent’s land. It looked like a modern hut. Our ears perked when they said it was being built in SE Ohio. Greg Dutton with Midland Architects was the architect and we knew Greg was making the short list even without meeting him. His bio clearly spoke to the connections to rural Ohio which resonated strongly with us. His portfolio however was anything but rural Ohio. He had also worked on some pretty cool projects including with HGTV’s Restored by the Fords (one of my twin sister’s favorite designers). Ultimately we reached out to Greg and really felt it was a good fit for us. Onto the design boards….
